Entrance Metalwork Recoating at Liverpool Passport Office

Vanda Coatings re-coated the entrance metalwork at the Liverpool Passport Office, including the revolving door frame and surrounding entrance steelwork. All metalwork was re-coated to a dark charcoal specification on-site, with glazing and surrounding surfaces masked and the building fully operational throughout.

Project summary

The Liverpool Passport Office required recoating of the entrance metalwork, including the revolving door frame, entrance canopy steelwork and adjacent door frames. The existing metalwork had deteriorated and required a full re-coat to a dark charcoal specification to restore the building's appearance.

Vanda Coatings carried out full surface preparation on all metalwork before applying primer and a two-pack acrylic topcoat in the specified charcoal colour. All glazing panels within the revolving door and entrance area were fully masked, with the building remaining open to the public throughout the programme.

Project outcomes

What the client achieved by choosing on-site recoating over metalwork replacement.

Revolving door retained

Existing revolving door mechanism and glazing retained in full: only the metalwork frame was re-coated, avoiding costly replacement.

Dark charcoal finish

All entrance metalwork re-coated to a uniform dark charcoal specification, restoring the building's appearance.

Building stayed open

Public access maintained throughout. Works were planned around building operations with no closure required.

Cost effective solution

On-site recoating of the entrance metalwork delivered a full visual restoration at a fraction of replacement cost.
